#52409429 French Limoge Cake Plate - ca 1898 - Shabby Chic Roses ARTIST SIGNED AND DATED 1898: Beautiful hand painted French Limoge plate with gold trim and robin egg blue. The colors are soft and a romantic mix of pinks, yellows, greens and lavender. This is a highly decorative piece and will make a nice addition to any collection or simply for display. Too gorgeous for cake or cookies!!! The plate is marked on the bottom with J.P.over the L. and above the word France in green (Mark No. 5 of the Jean Pouyat Limoge porcelain factory, it is an under glaze white wear mark which dates it 1890 to 1932 as noted in Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, third edition by Mary Frank Gaston pg 238. See picture No. 2). Also, the artist's signature is in gold with the date "1898" on the front and then in a light brown on the backside.
